A POLICE investigation has been launched after two people were found dead at a house in Bewsey.

The death of a 53-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman is currently being treated as unexplained by officers, who discovered the bodies yesterday, Monday.

Police attended the property on Gerrard Avenue at 8.40pm after concerns were raised about two people who had not been seen for some time.

Officers forced down the door of the property before discovering the two bodies.

A spokesman for Cheshire Constabulary said: “Cheshire Police are treating their deaths as unexplained and investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

“Police believe they know the identity of both the man and the woman although formal identification of the bodies has not taken place.”

Neighbours have since expressed their shock and sadness at the news of the two deaths.

Mum of five Leanne Williams said she was 'gobsmacked' by what has happened.

The 35-year-old said: “I'm really shocked. I didn’t know them well as they were very private people.

"I know she was poorly but he seemed fit and healthy. I can't believe it.

“You don’t expect something like this to happen where you live.”

Tom Langton, aged 35, recalled his shock at seeing police cars descend onto the street last night.

He said: "No one knew what was happening - one minute it was quiet and the next the police were here.

"I never really spoken to them but the man was lovely. You would always see him walking up and down the street."

One neighbour, who asked not to be named, added that the man and woman 'kept themselves to themselves'.
