NEW Warrington Wolves boss Roger Draper has issued a rallying call to turn the Halliwell Jones Stadium primrose and blue for Easter Monday.

Wolves take on Castleford Tigers in the traditional bank-holiday fixture (2.45pm).

And Mr Draper, who took over as chief executive this month, says he wants to see the ground turned into a sea of the club’s traditional primrose and blue colours for the fixture.

He said: “I was flicking through some news feeds the other day and saw an American ground which had been turned purple for a game.

“It looked fantastic and I thought it would be great if we could recreate something similar.

“So we are calling on everyone to wear a shirt, scarf, beanie hat — whatever it might be. It is a simple idea and one that everyone can get involved with from eight to 83.”

Mr Draper is hoping the atmosphere at the match can be similar to the World Club Series clash with St George Illawarra in February and the win over Leeds at the last home game.

He said: “They were fantastic atmospheres and we want that for every home game because the players notice it and it makes a difference.

“We have some of the best fans in the world and we want to show Castleford we mean business.

“The great thing about primrose and blue is that it will always be a part of the club. It has been there in the past and it will be there in the future.

“We have to bring the past with us.”
