Community could play part in sprucing up park at Town Hall

JADED' Bank Park is set to be spruced up as part of the Town Hall conservation plan.

Warrington Borough Council is considering asking businesses to sponsor the park and schools instead of doing the costly work itself.

"It is looking a bit jaded and we lack resources," Clr David Earl, the council's board member for innovation and change told an executive board meeting last week.

"Would there be any mileage in asking local firms to sponsor a flower bed and get some of the inner town schools to assist with making it a bit smarter?"

The idea was suggested by a resident.

Despite only one person responding to a consultation draft appraisal about changes to the conservation area, council leader Ian Marks supported the idea.

He said. "We hope to do something to improve that park because it is an attractive feature."

The whole of the council's executive board voted in favour of using guidance from historic environment agency English Heritage as the basis for an improvement plan.

Things to be looked at in improving the look of the area include signage, park benches and the location of railings.
