MUSIC fans crammed into Head record store on Tuesday to meet The Cribs.

The West Yorkshire indie rockers have performed to huge crowds at Glastonbury, T in the Park and Leeds and Reading festivals but gave an exclusive performance to around 200 people in the Golden Square shop.

They were in town to promote and sign copies of their sixth album, For All My Sisters, which has already made it into the top 10 in the charts.

The band, made up of twin brothers Gary and Ryan Jarman and their younger brother Ross, came to Warrington just days after finishing their US tour.

Singer and bassist Gary Jarman said: “We’re not really a small venue band. We love giant rock stadiums. That’s where we’re at home.

"But we also like these in-store gigs, as they’re a bit different. We’re never quite sure who will turn out but there’s always a good vibe and it’s good to help out record stores whenever we can.”

Drummer Ross added: “It’s our first visit to Warrington as a band, though I’ve been once before a long time ago when I did some DJing. The set up has been great, with a proper stage and sound system.”

The Cribs fans queued to meet the band and were treated to a short live set.

Gareth Jones, of Grappenhall, said: “I saw the poster outside the shop and was so dumbfounded I went in to ask if it was true.

"I mean this band play massive stadiums, I never expected to see them live in our shopping centre.”

From the unlikely beginning of working in a toilet paper factory in Wakefield with their dad, The Cribs went from toilet roll to rock and roll when they signed to Wichita Records.

The award-winning band have since notched up three top 10 records.

Dave Rafter, Head record store's manager, added: “For us to have a band as big as The Cribs play in our store is a real coup and we hope to do more stuff like this in future.

"We’ve got Record Store Day coming up on April 18 with some more live bands so customers should keep a lookout."
