PREPARE to paint the town green as Warrington’s Irish community celebrates its cultural traditions.

In the lead up to St Patrick's Day there will free Irish entertainment on Saturday, March 14, in Old Market Place between noon and 4pm.

Expect the sounds of Ireland brought to life with Irish bands entertaining the crowds and a series of performances from Rogers Academy of Irish Dancing.

The next day, all are welcome at Warrington’s St Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 15.

It starts at the Warrington Irish Club in Orford Lane for mass at 9.30am and then the parade will make its way to the 'River of Life' in Bridge Street at 10.30am.

The party ends back at the club with refreshments and music from Michael Coyne for the rest of the afternoon.

Parr Hall is also hosting a themed event with The Stars From The Commitments visiting to relive the magic of the hit film on Tuesday, March 17.

The nine-piece soul band from Dublin includes members of the original cast.

And down at the town’s Irish Club on the same day you can catch an afternoon of entertainment with Dermot Doyle from 2pm, followed by an evening dance with Team Healy from 7pm.

The week finishes off on Friday, March 20, with a proper Irish Ceilidh knees up at the Pyramid.
