A HOMEOWNER was woken by firefighters this morning after passers-by smelt smoke and raised the alarm.
Crews were called at 1.50am to the property on Hunter Avenue and found a man asleep in his bed and 'oblivious' to a blaze involving his grill pan.
A Cheshire Fire spokesman added: "The fire occurred after a cooker had been used and not turned off, causing a fire in the grill pan.
"Passers-by smelt smoke and heard a smoke alarm sounding and raised the alarm.
"The man was woken by firefighters gaining access to his home who extinguished the fire and used a large fan to remove smoke from the property before leaving."
