A MAN, who had his drink spiked, is now in a stable condition after officers came to his aid and rushed him to hospital.
Police were investigating reports of a man who was intending to jump in front of a train at Bank Quay Station after a concerned passerby called 999 in the early hours of Sunday.
After officers completed a search of the area, they located a man on the bridge of Sankey Way over the railway lines.
It later conspired that the man's drink had been spiked and, with his condition deteriorating, officers made the decision to take the man to hospital.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "The male was rushed to the Accident and Emergency resuscitation unit by medical staff and although initially was in a bad way he is now in a stable condition.
"The male's parents were very grateful to all officers involved for their quick thinking and for taking their son to hospital as, at the time, no ambulances were available."
