A GREAT Sankey-based charity has received a cash boost after being selected for a £2,000 donation by a big-hearted store worker who has experienced first hand the good work of youth clubs.

Debbie Harrison, who works at TK Maxx in the Golden Square, applied for one of the company’s community fund grants which aims to allow staff to help local good causes.

The 31-year-old chose Warrington Youth Club, based at the Peace Centre, after relying on a similar service during difficult times when she was growing up.

She added: “I knew I wanted to help young people as when I was a kid my mum and dad split up so I spent a lot of time at my youth club and it became a very important place for me."

The money will be put towards their girls’ group programme which has been run by the organisation for the past 15 years for girls aged between 13 and 19 covering topics including self identity and women in the media, to healthy living and fitness, cyber safety and bullying.
