THE Pickering Arms in Thelwall will be offering a refreshed menu to accompany its new look after a £200,000 revamp.

After a four week refurbishment, the Bell Lane pub will reopen tomorrow, Friday.

New operators Inglenook Inns & Taverns wanted to make the Pickering Arms family-friendly and put more emphasis on the pub's traditional features including its oak beams, old settles and open fires.

The pub will also have a beer terrace for al fresco drinking and dining in the summer.

The revised menu includes a better range of cask ales and pub grub classics such as Mrs Kirkham’s cheese and onion pie and a traditional roast on Sundays.

It is also hoped that the Pickering Arms will become more accessible to the wider Thelwall community with ‘bubbles and banter’ nights, ‘knit and natter’ sessions and an invitation for walking and book groups to drop in.

James Waddington, managing director of Inglenook Inns & Taverns who worked with Punch Taverns on the revamp, said: “The pub looks fantastic. I can’t believe the transformation.

“We wanted to create a family-friendly pub, which is truly pivotal to the community, and I’m confident we’ve succeeded."
