AN angry parent is calling on shoppers without a child to stop parking in designated areas at Morrisons, on Greenalls Avenue.

Aaron Jones, who regularly shops at the store, claims to have witnessed a woman without a child parking in a 'parent and child bay' at the store last week.

After realising all of the other bays were filled, he was forced to park in a normal space but struggled to get seven-month-old daughter Sienna, and her car seat, out of the vehicle as the bays are smaller.

Although he witnessed the incident at Morrisons, Mr Jones believes the problem is widespread across the town.

"With people who don't have a child parking in the bays, no wonder shoppers struggle to get the children out of the car," he said.

"People who don't need to park in the spaces are just abusing them - I see it here, and at other stores I go to, all the time."

"It is not even the fact that the bays are closer to the store which makes me angry, it just makes it a lot harder for parents and people who don't have a child with them should not park there."

Mr Jones does not see an end to the issue anytime soon but has put forward a possible solution to put people off needlessly parking in the bays.

"I think if the store put the bays a bit further away then it would put people off parking there - I would not mind walking a little bit further if it did put a stop to the problem," he added.
