EXERCISE wheels are normally reserved for guinea pigs or hamsters.

But a company has come to the rescue of a much bigger animal in need of stretching their legs.

Bengals Denver and Spike are both house cats but needed to exercise after the former was diagnosed with arthritis and the other only has three legs.

Papworth Trust Workwise in Bury St Edmunds made the rehabilitation wheel for the pair which has since sparked a run of orders and plenty of clicks after a video of the cats trying it out appeared online.

Owner Steve Westley, from Gorse Covert, said: "They are frightened of a crisp packet going outside so we used to make things for them out of cardboard for them to play with indoors.

"We commissioned the Papworth Trust to make the wheel for us as the one we had seen on the internet wasn't big enough for our 18 lb cat Denver.

"They love to play on it in the evening and it has had some funny looks when the gas man comes round.

"You can see their hearts are pumping because he's a big cat but I tell them he's more scared of you!"
