HEALTH chiefs have joined together to hear evidence about the benefits and risks of data sharing.

Patient information is not always automatically shared between care professionals such as GPs, midwives, consultants or social workers when they are providing care to a patient, client or service user. The Select Committee Inquiry aims to share evidence from a wide range of experts from organisations including the council, Warrington CCG, the hospital and 5 Boroughs, and come to conclusions on the subject.

Bob Saunders, committee chairman, said: "The first Select Committee Inquiry hearing was extremely interesting.

"Having the opportunity to listen to expert witness and understand their experiences has been a real eye opener. I look forward to the next hearing where we will welcome more expert evidence for the committee to deliberate on.

"We would encourage members of the public who are interested in the subject of data sharing to tell us their views by completing the online survey and to make your opinion count."
