THE owners of Omega have confirmed a deal has been made for a French manufacturing giant to move onto the business park.

Omega Warrington has confirmed today that work is due to be finished by the summer.

The business has not been officially named, but as the Warrington Guardian revealed in December, it will be Plastic Omnium, a car parts manufacturer.

Andrew Sutherland, joint MD for Miller Developments, partner of OWL, said: “Having secured the north west’s biggest logistics deal in 2014, we are delighted to continue the momentum at the start of this year with a deal that heralds extremely positive news for local employment and the country’s manufacturing sector.

"Added to the recent deal with The Hut Group, this latest signing reflects the strength of Omega’s offer to the manufacturing and logistics industries, with access to a huge labour pool and manufacturing expertise within a 30-minute drive time from the site.

"The benchmark has been set for 2015, as we bring forward these developments and hopefully see more pipeline deals come into fruition.”

The occupier will service its customer network from its new Warrington base, which will also include 20,000 sq. ft. of offices on a 20-acre site.

Cllr Terry O’Neill, leader of Warrington Borough Council, said: “I am delighted that yet another occupier has chosen to set up at Omega and Warrington.

"I am especially pleased that this will create hundreds of new manufacturing jobs and also that this represents business investment from an overseas company.

"Warrington was once again ranked as a top ‘city’ for growth in the recent Centre for Cities report and this announcement is a further endorsement of those findings.”

Deborah McLaughlin, the Homes & Communities Agency's executive director in the north west, added: “We have worked hard with our partners over a number of years to transform Omega into a major high-quality employment area.

"This latest success, which brings yet another significant business to the development, is fantastic news for the people of Warrington and the wider region.”

Work on the new accommodation is now under way, with completion due this summer.

  • Asda, Hermes, Brakes, The Hut Group and Travis Perkins are also on the site.
