AN ashamed 25-year-old woman exposed herself and performed a sex act on a water bottle during a night out in the town centre, a court heard.

Kelly Booth, of Chiltern Place, in Orford, held back tears at Halton Magistrates Court last Friday as she recollected her drunken actions from September 7 to the early hours of September 8.

After being refused entry from DV8, on Bridge Street, Booth returned to Voodoo Bar, where she had been earlier in the night, after 1am, but was escorted out due to her drunk state.

Once outside, she started to dance and began to flash a group of men at the scene, including staff of Voodoo Bar, and was handed a bottle of water by one staff member.

Shortly after, Booth performed a sexual act on the water bottle in front of a small group of males and simulated sexual intercourse with one male.

Prosecuting, Simon Pover, said: "She was encouraged by a group of people present, they incited her to behave as she did.

"She lifted her dress and exposed her body, and danced around before exposing herself again."

Speaking of her actions before the sexual act, Mr Pover added: "She was offered a water bottle and took it before she crouched down."

The group of males surrounding her allegedly encouraged her actions and laughed throughout the incident.

Defending, Tammy Mitchell, said: "She has only really realised today what she has done.

"People were taking advantage of a woman, who was in a vulnerable position - nobody tried to stop this happening and it really is a sad state of affairs, she was wholly taken advantage of.

"She has to live with this, it is totally out of character and she's appalled by her own behaviour."

The magistrates labelled the events as a 'sorry state of affairs' and admitted there was a 'huge amount of sympathy' with the fact that people did not stop her actions.

Booth, who has one previous conviction for drunk and disorderly behaviour, arrived to court with her long-time partner, but he could not face entering the courtroom during the case.

She received an 18-month conditional discharge for the crime.

Two men, who were working at Voodoo Bar during the night of the incident, and accused of encouraging Booth to carry out her actions, will stand trial at Halton Magistrates Court on May 6.
