A NEW project to improve Orford Lane has been launched by the planting of a new Christmas tree.
The Orford Lane Project will see a new community notice board installed and flowers planted.
And the fun started on Monday with the planting of a Christmas tree.
Cllr Tony Higgins (Lab - Fairfield and Howley) said: "The planting of this Christmas tree is a symbolic start to the future of Orford Lane and with the work I and others are undertaking in this area and not forgetting Brickfield park, will hopefully be the start of good things in 2015 .
"I have also organised a visit from Father Christmas and a gift all kindly supported by the friends of St Elphin's Park and the Fairfield hub .
"As the ward councillor I want to see good things for Orford Lane.
"I've worked hard with brickfield park and I want to see this area get a better deal for its residents and its businesses."
