A MAJOR summit was held on Tuesday to discuss how agencies in Cheshire can continue to tackle the 'appalling' issue of child sexual exploitation.
The summit, hosted by John Dwyer, Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, brought together the Cheshire Police Chf Con Simon Byrne, Warrington Borough Council leaders, and bosses from the NHS, and Crown Prosecution Service.
It discussed a review that followed the high profile exploitation case in Rotherham.
Mr Dwyer said "I welcome the outcomes of the joint review and recognise that some excellent partnership work has already been carried out in recent years to provide a strong foundation for safeguarding children.
"There is no complacency and all agencies are committed to developing even closer multi-agency working through the sharing of best practice and the formation of specialist child sexual exploitation teams in each council area."
Chf Con Byrne said: "This is a very topical issue. It was good to air our concerns and agree a way forward based around a local approach and strong consistent standards."
