KIND-HEARTED students studying performing arts at Warrington Collegiate were moved into action after hearing about the 2,000 families that could go hungry in Warrington this Christmas.

This month, the students have been collecting food items for the Salvation Army Food Bank.

Amy Millington was just one of the students to get involved with the charity collection.

The 17-year-old said: “Most of us have plenty to eat, so it comes as a shock to discover there is so much food poverty on your doorstep.

“By doing this I feel that in some way I’m giving something back to the community.”

Volunteer Dave Urmston said it was fantastic to see such compassion and care.

He said: “I would like to say a huge thanks to all who have kindly donated foodstuffs for our drive to improve Christmas for those in our community who are having a tough time. The contributions have been fabulous.”
