THE green light has been given for the town's first University Technical College with an opening expected in 2016.
Run by the University of Chester, it will offer engineering and energy education and training for 14 to 19-year-olds.
The six storey building, which will accommodate 620 pupils and 47 members of staff, is also currently under consideration.
It will be constructed on the former site of Dallam Day Centre in the town centre.
The plans were approved unanimously at a meeting of Warrington Borough Council's planning committee last week.
UTC had originally hoped top open next year before delays and concerns over temporary accommodation emerged.
