AS the annual hunt begins to find the town's best Christmas lights, we start with some gigantic efforts across Warrington.

Standing at more than 25ft high, this larger than life blow-up Father Christmas has gained international recognition after pictures were shared on sites in Australia and America.

Couple John and Jackie Robinson said opinions are split however among their neighbours on Myddleton Lane in Winwick.

Former pub owner John, aged 51, added: "I think the older ones are not too sure but the younger ones love it.

"We see people all the time driving past taking pictures and couldn't believe it when people in American and Australia were commenting on it.

"We used to have him outside our pub in St Helens a couple of years ago and this year just thought why not put it up outside the house?

"The reaction has been brilliant."

But they are not the only home reaching new heights with their Christmas decorations as Latchford homeowner Craig Middlemore has proved.

The 29-year-old, of Richmond Avenue, took an old fire place and decorated it to look like Father Christmas was set in front of a blazing log fire on his roof.

He added: "There's been a lot of people stopping and taking pictures and kids shouting 'It's Santa'.

"The missus thought I was mad but I'm 29 going on 12 and always loved Christmas.

"My mum and dad have always been the same with big decorations and lights and I think it's always nice driving around Warrington and seeing the lights.

"It gives you a bit of Christmas cheer."
