A DROP-IN session will be held on Friday to help identify carers who often miss out on much-needed support.

As part of this year’s Carers Rights Day, the council wants to remind people that support and advice is available to people who need it.

Cllr Pat Wright, executive board member for health, wellbeing and adult services, said: “Every year more than two million people become carers yet many don’t identify themselves as carers and miss out on support.

“Carers often do not realise that practical support is available, like replacement care to give them time off, help with lifting and bathing, or equipment and home adaptations that can be vital in protecting their health.

"Sometimes carers can be caring for years and not realise their entitlements so we want to put that right."

There will be an open day on Friday at Wired adult and young carers service on Sankey Street from 10am to 2pm.
