SHE has lived through two world wars, the fall of communism, Beatlemania, and the assassination of JFK.

But what Lillian Jones is really looking forward to after celebrating her 101st birthday, is putting her feet up.

The pensioner celebrated the landmark surrounded by friends at Radley Common Community Centre, Grasmere Avenue.

Lillian, of Fothergill Street, said: "I feel just the same as when I was 100.

"I enjoyed my birthday very much.

"The best thing was being around everyone at the centre.

"I'm already planning for 102."

The lifelong Warrington resident was treated to her favourite meal - Papa's Fish and Chips - and she said it was the best she has tasted in 101 years.

She was also showered with flowers and presents at the centre, that runs a lunch club for pensioners three times a week.

Maureen Higham, a volunteer at Radley Common, said: "Lillian is the life and soul and joins in with everything.

"We all call her the 'Queen' because she's so regal.

"We asked her if she wanted a small fish but she insisted on a big one."
