PLANS have been submitted to demolish a well-known Glazebrook hotel in order to build 27 houses and nine apartments.

The application regarding the Rhinewood Country House Hotel, Glazebrook Lane, has been recommended for approval following a similar application being submitted and then withdrawn in September this year.

Changes to the new plans include preserving more trees, reducing the number of houses and apartments from 38 in total to 36 and more parking.

Councillor Paul Bretherton and the Glazebrook Residents Action Group had submitted objections to the proposal with a number of reasons including traffic and 'setting a precedent' for future applications.

A statement from the action group added: "The development would mean an increase in the size of Glazebrook of about 10 per cent.

"The infrastructure of the area cannot manage an increase of this size and the development is not in proportion to the village."

The plans will be discussed during a development management committee meeting tonight, Thursday.
