BILLBOARDS across the country have been reminding the public of the charity work behind the Poppy Appeal.

But one family from Warrington featured in the campaign have said every day for them is Remembrance Day.

Two-year-old cutie Lexie-Mai never got to meet her dad Private Daniel Wade, who was killed serving his country in Afghanistan in 2012 when the Latchford soldier's fiancé Emma Hickman was six months pregnant.

The pair were invited to be part of Royal British Legion's 'Helping bereaved families live on' campaign, which has seen them featured in posters on billboards and bus stops all over the country, and 21-year-old mum Emma said they were delighted to support the charity and other families going through the same thing.

She added: "It was a once in a lifetime opportunity we couldn't turn down.

"I was proud but quite shocked to see the first one.

"I just thought 'Wow' but then I got a bit upset.

"When Lexie saw it she said 'I'm excited daddy'.

"She knows this time of year is for remembering her dad but in our house every day is Remembrance Day."

A Facebook post calling for people to take pictures of the poster featuring Emma and Lexie to create a scrapbook for the youngster has so far had more than 1,000 shares with kind-hearted people grabbing snaps of the billboard from as far away as Gateshead, Edinburgh and Portsmouth.

Emma added they were delighted with the response after the charity had been a great support during a time in her life she says is still too difficult and upsetting to talk about.

She said: "As Lexie gets a little bit older, she understands a little bit more.

"She's so much like him now which has kept us going over the last two-and-a-half years.

"She will do things that Dan used to do like the way she runs, she will turn her head in the same way when you speak to her and will squint her eyes if she's enjoying watching something like Dan did.

"People who knew Dan say it must be upsetting as she's so much like him but it's also comforting he's still living on."
