WOOLSTON Rovers Rugby League Club will host The Royal British Legion Challenge Trophy encounter on Saturday to raise funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The club will face the RAF Leeming Hawks at Monks Sports Club, on Hillock Lane and all proceeds from the day will go to the charity.
Several high-profile names from rugby league are expected.
"We are all fully aware of what sacrifices our very brave servicemen and servicewomen have made, and continue to make," said Rovers' public relations officer Dave Whalley
"We are honoured to be able to be involved in what we hope will be a great occasion and something that we can then build on each year.
"We have fantastic armed services that are the envy of the whole world so we will do anything possible on the day to raise funds."
