THE husband of Donna Davies, who was knocked down and killed on Lovely Lane, has issued a heartfelt thank you to the eight strangers who rushed to his wife and daughter's aid following the fatal crash last year.

Paul Davies, of Whitecross Road, was kept in the dark about the names of the eight witnesses who had comforted and shielded his daughter as the traumatic events of April 25, 2013, unfolded.

But the 44-year-old has since managed to get a hold of the witness reports which reveal the details of what happened and the names of those, who, he says, looked after his daughter during the most heart-wrenching and shocking hours of her life.

He said: "I don't know if I will ever get the chance to say thank you in person so I would like to say it publicly. I can't thank them enough."

Reflecting on the past year and a half, the father of four says his life was turned upside down after his wife of 22 years was knocked down by Balbinder Dhillon, of Montana Close, Great Sankey.

Despite the court case, it remains unknown what caused Dhillon, who was handed a two-year suspended sentence at Warrington Crown Court in February, to drive across the other side of the road onto the pavement where the 42-year-old mother was walking with the couple's then 10-year-old daughter.

This, along with a catalogue of other unanswered questions, has added to Paul's suffering, who has since been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder.

But discovering the actions of these eight people, who helped to calm his daughter, comforted her, protected her and tried to distract her from what she had just witnessed with her own eyes, has provided him with some peace.

"To know that she was well looked after is one of the most important things to me."

"I'm still trying to get closure and I'm finding it difficult. But now I know what these people did and I just want to thank them," he said.

As Paul has no way of contacting the individuals directly, he has decided to make the thank you public but has decided not to reveal their names in case they do not want the publicity.
