CONCERNS over a new law, which allows the press and public to film, tweet and blog from town halls across the country, was raised over fears that recordings could be manipulated.

At the full council meeting on Monday, Clr Paul Kennedy (Hatton, Stretton and Walton - CON) questioned whether the council would pay for councillors to take legal action if any comments during any hearing were published in a defamatory manner.

He asked whether help would be provided to 'remedy a wrong'.

Clr Kennedy added: "If words are edited then could members rely on the financial support of the council?"

It was concluded that the council would seek advice from its legal team on the issue.
