POLICE are investigating after a suspicious man was seen near Locking Stumps Primary School's all weather pitch and play area.

Concerned parents have also said they have seen a man walking alone along the pathways and unnecessarily hanging around the wooded area.

Descriptions given to police have described the man as a white, possibly European, in his 20s and with a shaven head. He was wearing a black jacket, grey jogging bottoms, a turquoise T-shirt and white trainers.

Another recent description was of a white bald man in his 30s.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "It must be made clear that no crime has been committed during these recent incidents.

"But these incidents can be concerning to residents and parents and Cheshire Police will remain vigilant.

"Cheshire police would like to reassure the public that each report is taken seriously and investigated while giving consideration for any trends, repeat offenders and risk to the public.

"A number of the descriptions given by children have been varied and officers would like to ensure that parents encourage children to report any incidents of concern to an appropriate adult at the time of it happening to avoid hearsay evidence and to encourage officers to attend the location promptly to enable us to locate any suspects."

Officers are also advising Locking Stumps residents to be extra vigilant when walking alone in the area and to report any suspicious activity to police immediately.

But residents are being asked not to approach or challenge anyone directly.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police added: "We would like to reassure the public that patrols have been increased in the area to actively target any potential offender and to reassure residents."
