KEEPING the doors open to the Warrington Guardian’s charity of the month is a never-ending battle for its team of staff and volunteers.

Home-Start Warrington, which does not receive any Government funding, relies on generous donations from the community and businesses to allow the initiative to continue to assist families with young children in the town who are experiencing difficulties and are struggling to cope.

Without the support of Warrington-based business Total Steel and Fabrication Ltd, it would have been difficult to survive the test of time and reach the charity’s 15th birthday earlier this year, claims scheme manager Kate Griffiths.

This vital source of funding from the company on Bewsey Road has enabled Home-Start Warrington to provide support to those in need and help parents to build a better future for their children.

She said: “As small charity we are reliant on raising all our own funds to support the vital work we do.

“Support from business through corporate sponsorship is one area we are looking to grow and develop to give long term financial stability to help us to grow as a charity.”

Total Steel managing director Mike Lomax joined forces with Home-Start Warrington as a way of giving back to the community.

He said: “It has been great to get involved with a charity that does a lot for the community.

"There is a lot of benefits from becoming a corporate sponsor and one of the best bits is seeing how our money is used to make a difference."

Due to the financial pressures facing the charity, it has launched an appeal for more corporate sponsors to join forces with Home-Start Warrington.
