AN author who spent some of the best years of his life at Padgate's RAF base is giving readers the chance to win a luxurious break.

After his school days, Keith J Wilson, 83, was recruited into the RAF to complete his National Service where he rose to Corporal, during which he grabbed some of the inspiration to write his gripping historical adventure novel Letters from the Past.

Now living in Wales, Keith is giving two people the chance to win two nights at Fawsley Hall Hotel & Spa - a hotel closest to where much of the action from the book's setting takes place.

"He has had some great times in Padgate with the lads from and talks about it a lot," said Keith's son, Jonathan.

"It was a time where he was really part of a team and not isolated. The book has been very well received around the country and especially from people living in Warrington.

"Keith is still connected to the town and always will be as he worked there for a few years."

Entrants must answer 20 questions to stand a chance of winning the prize and Jonathan, 51, says it is a great opportunity for those debating whether to enter.

He added: "With the setting so near to where the book is based, it gets the winners right at the heart of where the action took place and where the twists took place.

"We haven't had as many people enter as we would have liked so far but I am hopeful there will be more entries in before the closing date."

The deadline for competition entries is January 31 and for more information visit keithjwilson.co.uk or the Letters from the Past Facebook page, where the winner will be announced.
