THE Wirral and Cheshire Badger Group has begun their five year badger vaccination programme.
Thanks to funding from Chester Zoo, Badger Trust and donations from members and the public, the group has purchased all the equipment needed and been able to fund the training costs for three qualified vaccinators.
Working with a team of dedicated volunteers, badgers were successfully vaccinated on two farms and the group is halfway into the last round of vaccination for 2014.
A spokesman added: "This is great news for both farmers and landowners who wish to work with wildlife groups like us who are actively seeking to reduce the incidence of TB in Cheshire with a volunteer led, volunteer delivered badger vaccination scheme.
"We intend to extend the vaccination area next year and welcome the opportunity to speak with any landowners/farmers who may be interested."
