FIRE crews came to the rescue of an unlucky pooch stuck in three metres of mud and water in Dallam.
Witnesses said Gale Avenue 'lit up with blue flashing lights' as crews were called to the brook by Hodgkinson Avenue on Saturday at 6.50pm.
Using water safety gear, firefighters waded their way down the embankment to reach the dog and carry him back to safety.
Dallam resident Gareth Taylor, who witnessed the incident, added: "Well done to the emergency services for such prompt action and a successful conclusion."
