BETTY the minibus will be hitting the road to help a cancer charity help more people across the borough.

The John Holt Cancer Support Foundation has bought the minibus with thanks from fundraising from supporters including Warrington Lions and children's services.

And Betty was giving her sprucing up from DBS Car sales and Top Signs in Orford before being launched last week.

Charity founder Chris Holt said: "It's going to be used to take members out on day trips and bring members and volunteers into the centre or take them out for training.

"Before we were restricted to timings because there was a big cost limitation but now we can come back when we want to.

She is called 'Betty' after my mother who was part of the inspiration to start up the charity. Betty Mary Hayes had a passion for travelling but especially travelling all together as a family and we thought who better to name it after.

"We can now offer our members a wider range of day trips, holidays, shopping trips, pick ups and drop offs to the centre and expand our range of support."
