HUNDREDS of youngsters got the chance to find out more about further education and job opportunities at a careers event.

Orford Jubilee Hub played host to more than 280 young people at the event on September 11 making it the most successful event so far for the careers for young people service.

There were experts from colleges, training providers and employers on hand to give young people an insight into the jobs and opportunities available to them, with more than half of them applying for one or more job, course or apprenticeship.

The event was supported by the Mayor of Warrington Clr Ted Finnegan, executive director of families and wellbeing, Steve Reddy along with Clr Jean Carter, executive board member for children and young people.

Clr Jean Carter said: β€œIt was lovely to see young people come to this event to seek out education and employment opportunities. The careers for young people service do a great job in ensuring that young people are made aware of the career opportunities that are out there and we are always here to support someone who is looking for some extra support or advice.”
