THE routes are in for the English Half Marathon Festival of Running.

The now familiar half marathon route for the race on September 21, sponsored by New Balance, takes runners over the Cantilever Bridge before heading through Grappenhall, Appleton Thorn and Stretton and back to the start at Victoria Park.

The new 10k race, which starts at the same time, follows the same route down Stockton Lane in Grappenhall before doubling back along Grappenhall Road for the return to Victoria Park.

The day also involves a one mile Live Wire challenge for families in the park.

And there also be a food festival, stalls, and much more.

What another fantastic event happening right here in Warrington. Brilliant opportunity for locals & a superb way for families & communities to come together as well as embrace the visitors to the town.

I do wonder, however, how many of those people who were whinging about road closures etc when creamfields was on will also moan and whinge about this event closing even more of our roads. Or, will they see this event differently as it is sport related & therefore show their true prejudice against what they may perceive as 'unruly, drug taking, noisy, mess-making, revellers' who also just want to have a good time, only through music though.

Come on people, events like this whether music, sport, food related, are amazing and we should all embrace them enthusiastically. Without prejudice.
