ONE of Warrington Wolves best known fans has put illness behind her to win a top award.
Pam Caley was named Warrington’s BRUT Fan of Pride 2014 after winning an online vote.
It is a welcome boost for Pam who missed the club's appearance at last year's Grand Final after recovering from surgery in hospital.
She started organising supporter coaches to Wolves away games 20 years ago and has also taken an increasingly active charity role for causes such as the Steve Prescott Foundation.
To mark her award, Pam met Wolves full-back, Matty Russell, after Warrington training at the University of Chester's Padgate campus.
She said: “I still can’t quite believe it. I’ve no idea who nominated me, but to know that the public voted for me to be Warrington’s Fan of Pride is amazing.
"I’ve had a tough last 18 months, but Warrington Wolves have really helped me get through it. Before last year’s Grand Final Benny Westwood told me that they were playing for me, and even though I couldn’t make it to Old Trafford I was there with the boys in spirit.”
Pam will enjoy a day out at the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford in October as a prize, as well as some BRUT products. She will also go forward for selection for the National BRUT Fan of Pride 2014. This award will be chosen by a panel of Rugby League experts and will see the overall winner winning £5,000 for their club’s community foundation, a pair of 2015 season tickets, a signed Super League shirt and an invitation to the Man of Steel Awards.
