OFFICERS across the town will be used to calls from residents horsing around.
But police in the town centre were in for a shock on Sunday when they found two horses who had make a bolt for freedom.
Charlie Mills, special inspector for Warrington, said they received four 999 calls around 1pm before they found the pair of runaways heading in the direction of the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
He added: "They were in the car park of Portland Trade Park so we're not sure if they were trying to do some shopping!
"They belonged to some travellers but fortunately some passers-by were used to handling horses and had bridles in their car.
"They kindly helped us walk them back while we put in some road closures to get them back safely."
