A TOWN centre church will be opening its doors next month for two big events.

The Cairo Street Unitarian Chapel will be taking part in National Heritage Day on September 13 where you can find out more about the history of the chapel, which was founded in 1662.

The tablets commemorating the Gaskell family and Frederick Monks and pupils of Warrington Academy.

The chapel will be open from 10am to 4pm on the day and refreshments are also available.

On Sunday, September 21 Cairo Street Chapel will hold its annual Academy Service.

The subject this year is Frederick Monks, a prominent Victorian businessman who presented the Golden Gates to the town.

The talk, which starts from 3pm will be given by Janice Hayes.
