TWO people were trapped in cars following a five vehicle collision on the M62 in Birchwood this morning.
Firefighters at the scene worked to free those trapped with three people taken to hospital.
The North West Ambulance Service said one woman, aged in her 20s, was taken to hospital with a neck injury.
It is believed that none of the injuries were serious.
The Highways Agency say the road was reopened around 9.30am but traffic is taking a while to clear.
Tailbacks were reported to Burtonwood.
A cream Mini, black Clio, black Corsa and white Volvo, are among the cars reported to be involved.
All three lanes were closed following the incident at 7.48am today, Tuesday.
Police, ambulance and fire were at the crash which happened between junction 11 Birchwood and junction 12 for Eccles.
