A BIRCHWOOD man subjected to a suspended prison sentence has been jailed after failing to turn up for unpaid work.
Liam Forse, aged 33, of Fern Close, completed only 30 hours of 100 hours of community service, failing to attend two appointments in May The penalty was imposed in April last year, after Forse admitted to charges of theft, possession of amphetamine and resisting a police officer.
He was sentenced to six weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, but following the latest in a string of no-shows to do unpaid work, the six week jail term was imposed.
Appearing via video link at Halton Magistrates Court on Monday, Forse blamed health problems, and said he had moved to Weston-super-Mare following the break down of a relationship.
The defendant told the court he had then ‘forgotten’ about the requirement to carry out community service.
Magistrates decided the breaches of the community order had been deliberate.
