TRAVELLERS have settled on Mary Ann Meadows in Old Hall, with residents claiming they have damaged the football pitches.
Several caravans and cars can be seen on the recreation ground off Westbrook Way.
Goalposts have been used as a washing line, while witnesses also say a 4x4 car was seen being driven in circles, churning the ground up.
The matter has been reported to Cheshire Police and Warrington Borough Council.
Warrington West NPU said it was aware of the issue and will be working with the council to ensure there is no breach of the peace at the site.
As the playing field is council-owned land, it is up to the Town Hall to instigate any eviction.
The council is preparing a statement.
It is not yet clear if the travellers are the same group that have settled in other parts of the town in recent weeks.
