TWO Warrington Wolves fans have been banned from The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Club officials say an 18-year-old has been barred for five years for setting off a flare during the home game with Widnes in April.

While a 40-year-old man has been banned for two years after being in possession of a flare during this month’s Challenge Cup semi-final with Leeds.

A spokesman said action will be taken against anyone found guilty of such an offence.

They added; “Following the recent crowd troubles witnessed at the Tetley’s Challenge Cup Semi Final between Castleford and Widnes, Warrington Wolves would like to assure their fans that public order offences and assaults of any kind that threaten the safety of other persons at The Halliwell Jones Stadium cannot, and will not, be tolerated.”

Banning orders can vary in time between two and 10 years.

Police, media and the like are quick to name and shame members of the public & celebrities who are 'under investigation' for 'alleged' crimes....some of which are found completely innocent thus ruining lives before they have had a chance to prove themselves innocent. Yet here we have two mindless thugs, idiots, who have been found guilty, charged and reprimanded for a mindless act that could have had serious consequences.

Come on WG, police, justice system....name, shame & plaster their faces across all media so that we, their friends, families, neighbours, employers can all see what mindless thugs they really are.

"Mindless thugs" They had a flare, not a stick of dynamite. Swap thugs for idiots & it'd be about right..

Probably nothing as the ban is for the HJ BUT I am also sure the information will be shared with Warrington's opponents as "known troublemakers" so that they can keep a look out for them (noted the 40 year old was banned for an incident at Langtree).

There is an easy solution, as part of the ban get them to report to a local police station at the time the match is taking place, it's very difficult to be in 2 places at once
