POLICE are appealing for information after a carved wooden eagle was stolen from St Barnabas Church on Lovely Lane where it had been for more than 100 years.
The eagle, part of the lectern in the church, was taken, along with a silver plaque.
Both are of sentimental value to the church, the eagle having been given as a gift in 1901.
PC Alison Ball, of Warrington West NPU, said the burglary happened overnight between Thursday and Friday last week.
Police believe the items may be offered for sale in Warrington.
Anyone with information can call PC Ball on 101, quoting incident number 237 of August 8.
