A FAMILY have been paying tribute to their ‘brave, caring and considerate fallen hero’ after Second World War veteran Stan Fisher died last week.
The 90-year-old lost his battle with bowel cancer on August 4 but his family said despite his recent health problems, the Latchford man never complained once and was always saying 'Thank you' for everything the family did for him.
They added: “He could still lighten a room with a smile and a joke and he never lost his sense of humour.
“Stan passed away peacefully with his close family holding his hands and his little dog Scooby by his side on the bed.
“Of all the wishes Stan may have asked for, this one really did come true.”
The funeral will take place at 12.20pm at Walton Lea Crematorium on Tuesday, August 19. Flowers or donations for Macmillan Cancer Support.
