HOMEOWNERS in Warrington are being asked to help United Utilities find thousands of missing private pumping stations.

Private pumping stations help pump wastewater to the nearest sewage treatment works, and can often be in people’s gardens or on nearby land.

A recent change in legislation means that UU will become responsible for many of these stations from October, next year.

So far, 32 have been found in the town.

If you think you know the location of a pumping station, call UU on 0845 026 5151, or e-mail privatepumpingstations@uuplc.co.uk

A description or an idea of what to look for would be useful.

According to the article photograph we will need a magnifying glass, are they really that small? I could have thousands in my garden!
