POLICE are appealing for information after a man grabbed his 13-year-old victim by the wrist, pulled his tracksuit trousers down and forced her to touch him at Sankey Valley.
The victim kneed the offender before fleeing the scene at 2.20pm on Wednesday near the footbridge over Sankey Way near to Cromwell Avenue.
The man is described as white, in his late 20s, about 5ft 8ins tall with a skinny build. He had short black hair and dark coloured glasses and was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit.
DC Richard Kennedy of Warrington CID said: "The victim was understandably very upset by the incident and fortunately was not injured and is now receiving support from officers and her family.
"We are carrying out a number of enquiries in the area in a bid to trace the offender responsible and are appealing to local people who may have information which could assist with our enquiries.
"There were a number of people in the park at the time the incident took place. I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or who was in the area at the time and may have seen the man described to contact us."
Anyone with any information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 529 of 30 July 2014.
