WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones has challenged Prime Minister David Cameron’s assertion there are more GPs now and claims numbers in Warrington have fallen.
Mrs Jones said figures she had obtained found the number of full-time equivalent GPs has fallen under the Tory/LibDem government from 129 in 2009 to 122 in 2012.
She added: “A loss of five full-time equivalent GPs in a growing town like Warrington is making it much harder for many people to get an appointment.
“The fault is not with the hard-working GPs but David Cameron’s failure to live up to his promises.
“This is just another example of the damage this government is causing to the NHS. “
