WARRINGTON Borough Council is advising its stakeholders on a revised enforcement policy.
The focus of the policy is to provide advice and guidance, from informal to formal enforcement depending on each individual situation on things like planning matters and others.
Peter Astley, assistant director regulation and enforcement said: “The current public protection enforcement policy, adopted in 2009, required updating to better reflect regulatory practices within public protection.
"In undertaking this work, we have also taken the opportunity to broaden the scope of the policy so that it now covers more of the regulatory functions for which Warrington council has responsibility.
"Before we finalise the policy, we genuinely want to hear the views of all our stakeholders, and I strongly encourage everyone who wishes to comment to do so.”
The policy also sets out the council’s viewpoint on regulation across a vast number of its functions and service areas, and explains the principles aimed at ensuring laws are complied with.
Clr David Keane, executive board member for environment and public protection, said:
“I would encourage everyone who wishes to support the proposed policy or to express concerns, to make their views known as soon as possible.”
