WARRINGTON North MP has decided to step down from her role on the shadow front bench.

She told leader Ed Miliband earlier this month, but the decision was announced today, Tuesday.

The 59-year-old had been a shadow home office minister since October, and had served as a shadow local Government minister.

She was in the whips office when Labour was last in Government and was a former vice chamberlain.

The MP will stand again for the Warrington North constituency in 2015 where she will defend a 6,771 majority.

She told the Warrington Guardian: “I have greatly enjoyed my front bench roles but I have found that I was spending more and more time out of the constituency and I have always said Warrington North would be my first priority.

“I am very flattered that both Ed and Yvette asked me to reconsider and stay on however I want to be able to devote my time to the constituency and to be free to speak on issues like HS2 and fracking in a way that you cannot do on the front bench.“

good news. Warrington needs protecting from Igas.... Igas...The Government sold you via the DECC a set of Emperors new clothes.
The public are waking up to the real facts around fracking, and the’re not palatable, whatever ‘sauce’ you garnish them with. Even with the government ‘lending a hand’ by providing free security its just not going to happen. You thought you were clever buying Dart energy. I think Dart saw what happened in their home country at Bentley and wanted out, who’s the clever one ?
You’ve had your chance, when people were still apathetic, its gone now.
Peoples opinion has changed, they’ve seen your ‘new clothes’ for what they are,a greedy attempt at profit whilst ruining the planet.
Peel just want money, they will soon realise fracking is not the answer and drop you like a hot stone, instead concentrating on their good green projects, like Woolston weir. Maybe now Helen Jones will sign Early day motion 57 like many of her labour 'non front bench' colleagues have, against 'fracking' under peoples homes,we only have until 16th August to stop this powerful but hidden bill. South Warrington needs protecting too, and it will be, if our politicians won't listen to the growing groundswell of public opinion. Nodey out :)
