THOUSANDS of festival goers and music fans descended on the town over the weekend to enjoy three days of live music.
Talented musicians and aspiring singers took to the stage when Warrington Music Festival took over the town centre.
Bands including Blast Tyrant, Conquer Rio and Roughneck Riot were part of the music line-up, which was credited as ‘the best yet’.
Nineteen-year-old Bronnie Mckeown, from Longford, who is a festival regular, said: “This year has been the best yet. It has been a lot of fun.”
BRIT award winners Scouting For Girls brought the weekend’s proceedings to a close on Sunday at the Old Market Place, Golden Square, later taking to Twitter to thank the town for helping them to end their weekend in style.
Music fan and mum of one Jane Banks from Burtonwood spent most of the weekend enjoying the live performances but expected Scouting For Girls to be her highlight of the festival.
The 29-year-old said: “I’m a big fan and I’ve never heard them live so I can’t wait. The music has been mixed with something for everyone.”
Alongside a full line-up of musicians and bands, a youth carnival event was in full swing at Bank Park on Sunday.
The annual music festival has been organised by Steve Oates and his team since it was launched in 2007.
Mr Oates said he was proud of this year’s efforts and hopes the 2015 festival will go on to surpass this year’s.
He said: “I think it's fair to say that you'd have to go a long way to find an event that gives such an opportunity to local musicians.
“From children in our care system on stage for the first time in a big top on front of Town Hall, to our very own female rock-star in-waiting sharing the stage with her platinum-selling idols.
“This event has roots that go deep into our communities. It truly is unique and something that we can all be very proud to be a part of.
“It's great hearing the views of visitors to Warrington whose pre-conceived ideas of what a weekend in the town can offer are completely blown away. Here's to bigger and better things in 2015.”
