A LIFELONG Warrington fan has set off already for his side’s trip to Perpignan as he takes on the 1,000 mile journey from the Halliwell Jones to the home of Catalan Dragons on his bike.

Paul Jenkins, who will turn 47 during the journey, is taking on the gruelling challenge to raise cash for the Steve Prescott Foundation and has already collected more than £800.

The former Risley prison officer, who will have his wife Marie as his support crew along the way, added his efforts are nothing compared to what former Saints player Steve Prescott went through before his sad death last year.

Paul, who now lives in the Limousin region of France but was originally brought up in Latchford, said: “My family thought I was mad at first but I was at Wembley when Steve Prescott delivered the matchball after taking on marathons and cycle rides between Paris and London.

“I’ve been wanting to do it for a while and now I’m really looking forward to it.”
